Zambia’s election was flawed and may need to be rerun

Zambia’s election was not supposed to end like this. For much of the campaign, President Hakainde Hichilema looked well-placed to secure a second term. Instead, the country has emerged from the 13 August vote with its democratic credibility in serious doubt.
